MacBook Pro Cases

Protecting precious objects has always been a challenge for most people. MacBook Pros being the most expensive category of Apple laptops, owners buy all sorts of protective skins, covers and cases for them.

This is all well and fine, until you realize that it’s not worth it. After a while the battery loses its capacity, the hard disk becomes insignificantly small, the graphics card insufficient for new games … generally the MacBook Pro’s hardware becomes obsolete within 3 years from purchase, roughly 1000 days. Having all this in mind we can start eliminating some accessories that aren’t necessary for this short period of time, because they only complicate things.

The most important protective accessory is the keyboard skin. This is something that every laptop and every desktop should have, because of the ever growing health risks posed by bacteria living in the keyboard. Some older studies showed that the cleanest place in an office is the toilet (because it’s cleaned regularly), while the most bacteria infested objects are: telephone, keyboard and mouse.

Keyboard skins are available for all Apple computers, Rasfox is the one of the best manufacturers of such silicone keyboard skins. These skins have multiple roles, most of them have preprinted buttons that can be seen more easily and they reduce the amount of noise produced by typing. There are different colors for all tastes: pink, blue, white, black and clear.

The following accessory can be considered optional, because it only protect against scratches. Any real physical threat like hitting or dropping result in broken protective cover (aka hard shell) and/or bent aluminum body. Rafox also makes this kind of accessories in a few elegant colors.

Cases however are a good idea to buy and use. They protect against rain, dust, minor shocks and scratches during transport. There are many kinds of cases, Rasfox makes some really simple designs.

They come in 6 different colors. Codex makes similar cases with the double zipper design for letting the user start the laptop without removing it completely from the case. Please note that this is not recommended due to overheating issues that MacBook Pros already have without adding additional barriers for the ingoing or outgoing air.

It also absorbs bigger shocks than most cases, because of the new material used between the inner soft lining and the outer tough material. For ultimate protection however, we must turn to more solid solutions like Ion Factory. These shells are very resistant, because of unique patented polyurethane crafted on high durable Polycarbonate plastic fiber, giving the MacBook Pro fighting chance against scratches and shocks.

As you can see the CarbonShell made by Ion Factory looks very rugged, and like all shells it can stay on the MacBook Pro all the time, because no ports or ventilation holes are covered by it, letting you use all the functions of the laptop.11
