Leather Case For MacBook Pro

Leather Case For MacBook Pro

Dec 22

Apple came up with the new aluminum unibody idea to make its products more resistant and stylish. As it turns out the plan somewhat backfired, because no matter how hard the laptop body is, there’s always a harder material that can scratch its surface.

Basically Apple is back where he started from, many users choose to cover up the aluminum unibody of the MacBook Pro (or polycarbonate enclosure of MacBook) with leather, silicon or plastic shells. Why didn’t Apple just use plastic laptop bodies from the start? Of course it’s a rhetorical question, what’s done is done, it’s unlikely that Apple will abandon aluminum and polycarbonate unibody designs in the near future.

Many hard shell and laptop case manufacturers are pleased with the new design, because they can sell a lot of products that no one needed before the aluminum and polycarbonate unibody design.

Macally is one of these manufacturers. It produces hard shells for 13” MacBooks and 15” MacBook Pros.

The Macally leather case MacBook black, is not really made of leather. All eco-friendly companies (Macally is no exception) use imitation leather instead, that in many cases are stronger and last longer.

As you can see it looks really great. It has a very simple snap-on design, no screws or special tools are required for putting it on or taking it off.

The Macally leather case MacBook black covers most surfaces of the white polycarbonate unibody, but it also has a lot of openings on the bottom for ventilation and at the sides for ports, Kensington lock and the slot loading SuperDrive.

Because of these holes, the Macally leather case MacBook black offers limited protection, and has to be enforced by a silicone keyboard skin and a proper laptop case or backpack.

There are a few types of keyboard skins around, but the most important thing is to protect the keys themselves, the palm rest area is not so important. One of these skins is the transparent and semitransparent skins from zCover. Although they are somewhat transparent, they all have preprinted keys, so you don’t have to worry about harder to see keys. Beside the fact that they protect the keyboard against water, dust and other particles, they also make the keyboard quieter and safer to use. Most scientists agree that having a bacteria farm in the keyboard and mouse poses a real threat to our health. In an average office the most infected appliance is the phone, but coming in second place is the keyboard and mouse, so a washable silicone keyboard skin is a wise investment.

The Macally hard shell provides protection in our laps or on the desk, the keyboard skin protects against bacteria and liquids, all we need now for the MacBook is protection on the road.

The ideal travel solution is the backpack. While carrying extra weight is never healthy, distributing it evenly on your shoulders is the best way to go. Make sure that the lengths of the straps are always equal, so you don’t ruin your posture. There are some interesting designs like the stealth backpack, specially made for laptops.11
